Freight Estimates

Duo-Safety Ladder Corp. DOES NOT quote freight estimates/rates. What we can do for our customers to obtain an estimate is give you approximate shipping weight, class of goods to be shipped and you can contact recommeded carriers below via internet, phone etc.

All you need is origin zip code (54902 that's us) and destination zip code, weight and freight class. Please call our office for estimated shipping weights and freight class if you don't already have them.

Please note as of 1/1/2006 - we are charging a S/H fee for ALL shipments.
Duo-Safety charges a $12.00/net fee for all LTL shipments (this includes all collect, pre-paid, and 3rd party billing shipments). This fee has been added to cover our extended costs for packaging, paperwork, routing instructions and continued negotiations for better freight rates with carriers.

MINIMUM CHARGE SHIPMENTS
With all carriers we have a negotiated discount. However, any shipment that is under 150 lbs is considered a minimum shipment and we have a minimum charge that applies regardless of what our discount is. With long haul carriers, this minimum charge is approximately $110.00 and with short haul carriers it is approximately $95.00.

Please remember when obtaining your freight estimate that no shipment will cost less than $110.00 for long haul, and not less than $95.00 for short haul.

If you request us to drop ship on your behalf, we can do so - however, We feel it is your responsibility to be sure your customer inspects for damages BEFORE they sign the drivers receiving slip as received in good condition. Once your customer signs clear, it is almost impossible to collect any concealed freight damage claims.

We do use many carriers, the following are our preferred carriers. Our average discount with all carriers is 60%. Most of our products ship at a class of 150, except 585A Folding Ladders, Pike Poles and parts which all ship at a class of 70.

**PLEASE NOTE**
Please keep in mind that when you obtain a freight estimate that it is truly just an ESTIMATE of freight charges. Freight companies are notorious for adding on extra fees that are NOT discounted. Services such as a call before delivery, oversized package (usually longer than 20'), or delivering to a school or university incur extra fees.

Also, some shipping points are considered non-direct for a carrier. With non-direct points we have a lower discount. If you have any questions, please call our office.

The following are other common questions in regards to shipping our ladders:

Why don't you have standard freight estimates for your ladders?
I've called the freight company and they won't give me a quote with your discount.
What does minimum shipment mean?
Are the weights listed in your catalog or online shipping weights?
I've received my invoice and there is a S/H fee listed, what is that?

Q.    Why don't you have standard freight estimates for your ladders?  For each shipment, we try and use the best and least expensive carrier possible, however, many carriers vary by as much as $100 for an identical shipment. Because of this variation, we are unable to quote a standard freight amount for our ladders. We prefer to give our customers the most accurate freight estimate possible so our customers can save money.

Q.    I've called the freight company and they won't give me a quote with your discount.  When calling a freight carrier for a freight estimate, do not mention Duo-Safety Ladder. As soon as you mention our name, the freight carrier will say they cannot give out information for other accounts. That is why we tell you what our discount is, just call the freight carrier to request a quote with no discount. After you receive the quote, subtract the discount amount that we told you and add fuel sur-charge also.

Q.    What does minimum shipment mean?  A minimum shipment is the lowest flat fee any carrier will charge for shipments weighing less than 150 lbs regardless of what our discounts allows.

Q.    Are the weights listed in your catalog or online shipping weights?   NO. The weights listed in our catalog or online are individual product weights ONLY. The shipping weight for all products is higher than the product weight. For smaller ladders and pike poles, add 5-10 lbs for shipping weight. Any ladder over 24' in length or multiple ladders shipped together are crated in a wood box. A general rule of thumb to figure out shipping weight is to take the weight of the product and multiply by 1.5 to get crated weight. If you need approximate shipping weight, call our office.

Q.    I've received my invoice and there is a S/H fee listed, what is that?  This fee has been added to cover our extended costs for packaging, paperwork, routing instructions and continued negotiations for better freight rates with carriers.
